I have been extremely remiss in my Cupcake a Day postings, leaving you with the last one, Day 5, five days ago. (For those who don't know, I'm eating a cupcake a day this month to celebrate our 4-year blogiversary.) My apologies for the long delay! My weekend trip to San Francisco and, well, life have delayed me, but I'm back on the case, catching up on my month of cupcake eating.
Day 6, which was Saturday, was when I got cupcakes from San Francisco's Baked in Potrero Hill (no relation to the NYC/Charleston bakery Baked). I first heard of them during my last SF visit over Halloween weekend, when they were selling No on Prop 8 cupcakes, and was eager to check them out. On Saturday, my friend Phil made a huge dinner, as he tends to do, and also made macaroons while I brought cupcakes for dessert. The one I tried was this one:
Like their other cupcakes, the frosting was extremely rich. It was like a mousse/pudding type of frosting, in a good way. I don't like it when frosting is so thick it feels like it's solid. The chocolate cake was very moist and gooey and together with the chocolate shavings, it was a very good cupcake. I don't think I could eat that kind of frosting all the time, but it was a decadent treat while on vacation.
