...it's exactly what you think it is.  It does'nt have to be in a shot glass  but you can get one at a handful of cupcake stores around the country - a short-but-sweet pick-me-up, the frosting without the cupcake.

For a small fee, you get a dollop of you favorite frosting in a paper or plastic cup. At some cupcake shops the frosting shot is actually a menu item, but if it's not on the menu at your local cupcake bakery try asking, you just might for a dollop of your favorite frosting to go...

According to a report at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25782308/,  Sprinkles Cupcakes in Scottsdale, Ariz., the store sells at least a dozen shots of buttercream frosting daily at 75-cent a shot.
